Having the right environment. This means using video calls, not just audio calls. You want as much information as you can get, including body language and facial expression.

Because of Covid and this unprecedented time in everyone's lives, employees are experiencing major screen fatigue. We've given the guidance that for some 1:1s, it may be best to do over a call with video off since team meetings, customer meetings and many others require video on. It's primarily up to the two people having the 1:1 to come to a mutual agreement and understanding for what works best for them.
